Chairman- Los Angeles Section (1200 members) 1974-75

Chairman -Los Angeles Council

(13,000 members in 12 sections from Santa Barbara to Orange County), including activity related to WESCON, of which the council is a 25 % owner 1977-78

Chairman- Power Systems Protection Committee 1990-91

Responsible for the Buff and Blue Books

Distinguished Lecturer 1988-92

Lectured in 14 cities, including 4 South American countries, on Reliability of Industrial Power Systems. In May 1992, his two hour lecture was videotaped, while broadcast live on the National Technological University Satellite Television Network. He was an invited lecturer at INDUSCON '92, held June 1-3, 1992 in Sao Paulo, Brazil, and lectured at Santa Caterina University, Brazil

Within IEEE, Mr. Love has been active in preparing electrical safety/design standards known as the Color Book Series, and sponsored by the Industrial & Commercial Power Systems Department, such as:

Std 242- Recommended Practice for Protection & Coordination of Industrial and Commercial Power Systems (Buff Book); Std 241-Recommended Practice for Electrical Power Systems in Commercial Buildings (Gray Book); Std 399-  Recommended Practice for Industrial and Commercial Power Systems Analysis (Brown Book).  He authored a chapter in Std 1015-1997, Recommended Practice for Applying Low voltage Circuit Breakers used in Industrial and Commercial Power Systems (Blue Book). He also contributed to Std 902-1998 Application Guide for Maintenance, Operation, and Safety of Industrial and Commercial Power Systems (Yellow Book)..

National Academy of Forensic Engineers (NAFE)

Accepted as a member in June, 1996 in this professional organization formed to advance the art and skill of engineers who serve as engineering consultants to members of the legal profession and as expert witnesses in courts of law, arbitration proceedings and administrative adjudication proceedings.

Forensic Consultants Association- Orange County (FCAOC)

Was one of the founders of this group organized on July 9, 1993 by the Orange County Local IEEE Consultant's Network.  Became the first Treasurer when incorporated for all consultants to the legal profession, and membership consists of engineers, accountants, medical doctors, investigators, and construction experts.  The monthly meetings feature talks by attorneys, judges, and other specialties on economics and court behavior.

National Fire Protection Association (NFPA)

After passing the professional engineering examination, was licensed in 1985 to practice Fire Protection Engineering in California, I joined the NFPA and SFPE.  My work in nuclear power plant fire protection was good preparation.  The NFPA standards on electrical codes, safety, and maintenance are excellent sources.
